Caesarstone brings celebrated Tom Dixon collaboration to interior design show Vancouver

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Toronto, Canada – September 12, 2016 – Caesarstone, the original quartz surface manufacturer, in collaboration with the renowned designer Tom Dixon, have produced a multi-sensory and interactive installation that challenges and explodes the senses of touch, taste and smell. The creation will be unveiled at the Interior Design Show Vancouver (IDS Vancouver), taking place September 22-25, 2016. Set as the feature installation of the hotly anticipated design fair, ‘The FIRE Kitchen by Tom Dixon’ will bring together design, architecture and culinary experiences with a smoky edge. The FIRE kitchen debuted during the 2016 design festival in Milan and is one of the experiences within ‘The RESTAURANT by Caesarstone & Tom Dixon’, four semi-professional kitchens inspired by the natural elements – Fire, Water, Air and Earth.

The FIRE kitchen remarkably manipulates the element of fire to a formation in space through the use of Caesarstone’s surfaces. This highly designed kitchen brings together the rustic elements of smoke and flames and draws on Caesarstone’s theatrical black and intense grey premium quartz to complement the mood and atmosphere of fire. The custom ege carpet and Gaggenau appliances, with furniture from Tom Dixon’s own collections, allows the FIRE kitchen to bring natural elements to the table with a luxurious flare. Tom Dixon hand selected Caesarstone slabs in Vanilla Noir 5100, Raven 4120 and Coastal Grey 6003 to bring his fiery design to life.

“Inspired by charred wood and smoke, the FIRE kitchen is a phenomenal conceptual space which perfectly marries the directional and stimulating work of Tom Dixon while affirming the functionality, beauty and all-encompassing qualities of Caesarstone’s surfaces,” said Elizabeth Margles, Vice President of Marketing for Caesarstone. “Tom Dixon’s mark is etched in these surfaces as they shine on a new level through this multi-sensory experience.”

“We wanted to collaborate with Caesarstone to inspire architects and designers through a radical interpretation of how food and surfaces can interact in different ways, delivering a food experience that challenges all the senses in an exercise of materiality, luminosity and texture,” said Tom Dixon.

The world’s first look at The RESTAURANT took place at IDS 2016 in January with the ICE kitchen, and the evolutionary designs have since presented Caesarstone’s quartz surfaces in never before seen ways to the world. The year-long collaboration will reveal four conceptual kitchens that provide for a culinary experience perfectly illustrating the durability and beauty of Caesarstone surfaces.

Caesarstone has been a key sponsor of IDS for four years, and has participated in the design fair for a total of six years. Always a central feature at IDS, Caesarstone is also the main sponsor of the Caesarstone Stage which is the source location for educational keynote lectures from local and international professionals in the design industry.
