Introducing Dappled:  IDS Vancouver Central Feature Presented by Caesarstone

Toronto, August 25, 2022 — Caesarstone, innovator and leading manufacturer of quality countertop surfaces, invites you to experience Dappled, the Central Feature at the Interior Design Show Vancouver (IDS Vancouver) taking place September 22-25, 2022. Designed in collaboration with celebrated landscape design studio Donohoe Living Landscapes in collaboration with acclaimed industrial designer and artist Brent Comber, Dappled is a reflection of life’s transformed interactions with nature post-pandemic.

With this feature, Caesarstone renews its commitment to sustainability and is giving back to the community by donating its IDS Vancouver booth space to these sustainable designers. With sustainability as a core value, this low environmental impact design approach ensures minimal waste is produced from the feature.

In reference to one of nature’s most delicate yet powerful performances, the display of Dappled animates its canvas with the projection of a flickering pattern as sunlight filters through the trees. Dappled describes the physical space of this installation but also refers to an enhanced appreciation for the outdoors gained through the pandemic experience. The recognition that amidst the chaos, we were given the chance to slow down and find joy in the smaller details of life.

“The intrinsic connection between community and the environment is at the heart of our DNA,” says Yael Goldshmid, Director, Brand Marketing, Americas at Caesarstone. “Our approach to this year’s installation was rooted in the idea of giving back and nurturing collaboration among attendees within a quintessentially organic setting.”

Dappled focuses on sustainability, community, and coming together again. It’s an

expression of gratitude for what nature has meant to us over the last three years — a reprieve from isolation and a replenishing space for us to connect.

From music, to sound to scent, the installation simulates dining under a forest canopy and the practice of forest bathing (shinrin-yoku) or mindfulness among the trees. The communal dining table, designed by Pacific Northwest entrepreneur and designer Brent Comber, is created using sustainably sourced and local materials with seating for up to 50 guests. In keeping with Caesarstone’s multi-sensorial activations, Dappled focuses on Caesarstone’s support for local designers and vendors. It tells the story of giving back and foreshadows a plan for this design post-event. Dappled presented by Caesarstone can be experienced at The Interior Design Show from September 22-25 at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Caesarstone started its journey at IDS Toronto by inviting the design community to experience NEO Colosseo, an immersive installation featuring designs by Alessandro Munge leveraging the newly-launched, ‘Pebbles Collection,” that propelled visitors through a sensorial journey of earth, art, nature, and expression. At IDS Vancouver, an intentional design approach will be made to ensure few materials or efforts go to waste in the planning of this feature.
